Lane County to Open Applications for Rent Assistance

Lane County

Lane County announced a second round of applications for rent assistance will become available at 9AM Wednesday morning and be open for one week.

In order to be eligible, applicants must reside in Lane County and have an active rental agreement in their name.

According to Devon Ashbridge, a public information officer for the county, rent assistance is designed for households that are able to document a direct loss of income due to COVID-19, or those whose health would be jeopardized as a result of housing loss.

“Round two is funding provided through the federal COVID-19 Cares Act,” says Ashbridge, “and we have a total of about 5.1 million dollars available this time. It’s also notable with this pot of funding, we were able to increase the amount of income a household could have and be eligible.”

Ashbridge says applicant household incomes must be no more than 80 percent of Lane County’s Median Income Level to be considered for assistance.

For those without access to the online application, Lane County’s non-emergency COVID call center can be reached at (541) 682-1380.
