The Eugene 4J school district will hold virtual information sessions over the next two weeks about reopening for the fall. According to a press release, at least the first four weeks of the school year will be online.
In order for schools to reopen for in-person instruction, the community must meet COVID-19 test baseline numbers outlined by both the state and the county. For schools to reopen for students in kindergarten-3rd grade, the community must see 30 or fewer positive cases per 100,000 people in Lane County, for three weeks in a row.
For students in 4th-12th grade, there must be 10 or fewer positive cases per 100,000 people in Lane County, for three weeks in a row.
The community must also see a rate of positive cases that is 5% or less in Lane County and in Oregon, for three weeks in a row—which applies to all grade levels.
In the meantime, 4J is continuing to plan for a hybrid learning model of in-person and online classes once public health conditions improve, and they have appropriate health and safety measures in place.
