Eclipse Tips and Information Resources

Ore. Office of Emergency Management

Over a million visitors are expected in Oregon for Monday’s total solar eclipse. With that many extra people and in the middle of fire season, it’s important to stay on top of emergency announcements.

Oregon Office of Emergency Management spokesman Cory Grogan represents the state joint info center for the eclipse. He says one resource for eclipse tips is a state-wide call center where people can access a broad range of information.

“So you can call 211 throughout the state to get any information you need about the eclipse - whether that’s regarding events, lodging details, campsites, weather conditions, transportation,” says Grogan.

Grogan says the call center will be active through August 23rd. To access updates on traffic and road closures, travelers can visit www.tripcheck.com or call the Oregon Department of Transportation info line at 511. People can also visit OEM’s Real Time Assessment and Planning Tool for Oregon, called RAPTOR, for a map of closures and forest fires in relation to the eclipse path of totality.
